ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Paint Valley Local Schools community is grappling with the aftermath of a hazing incident that recently led to the suspension of several high school football players. However, the Paint Valley School Board has voted to overturn the suspensions, allowing the students to return to school and participate in sports.

The investigation began when an anonymous tip was submitted to the Safer Ohio School Tip Line, alleging that members of the Paint Valley High School football team engaged in “questionable behavior” during birthday celebrations. According to the police report, the anonymous email named several possible suspects but did not identify a victim.

Upon receiving the tip, Paint Valley school officials, including the high school principal and the district superintendent, took law enforcement they questioned the football coaching staff. The staff members denied any prior knowledge of hazing activities. School officials then began interviewing members of the football team, a Sheriff’s office report reads. The Guardian has weighted the lewd statements in the police report against the public’s best interest and has decided to share the graphic details in an effort of transparency to community taxpayers and families who have students enrolled.

One student reported having personal knowledge of the hazing, stating that he had experienced what he called “ass in face” on his birthday.

Police obtained documentation from Paint Valley Local Schools, including face sheets of potential suspects and a victim, as well as notes taken by the school during their internal investigation. The case has since been forwarded to detectives for further review.

Despite the initial disciplinary action taken against the students involved, their families appealed the suspensions to the school board. After a meeting this week, the board voted to overturn the suspensions, allowing the students to return to school and resume participation in sports.

The decision has sparked controversy within the community, with parents and residents expressing concern over the message it sends about accountability and the handling of hazing allegations. School officials have yet to comment on the board’s decision, and it remains unclear how the incident will affect the school’s sports programs going forward.

The criminal investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined if any criminal charges will be filed.
