CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man was arrested this week following allegations that he threatened a bus driver and made threats to burn down her house. The incident reportedly occurred while his children were boarding the bus.
According to the initial report, the man became enraged during a discussion about his children sitting at the front of the Chillicothe City Schools bus. He allegedly used explicit language and threatened to burn down the bus driver’s house. The altercation, reportedly captured on the bus’s CCTV system, allegedly shows the suspect shouting threats and using offensive language.
Officers said they reviewed the security footage, which they say corroborated the alleged threats made by the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Matthew Shaffer. Following his arrest police say, Shaffer initially denied making the statements but later acknowledged his threats after hearing the recording. He was subsequently taken to the Ross County Jail.
