CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Danbarry Cinema has responded to recent social media posts alleging the presence of bedbugs at its Chillicothe location. In a statement released on Tuesday, the theater addressed the concerns raised by customers and assured the public that they take the matter seriously.

“We at Danbarry always take these concerns seriously,” the statement read. “When there is a complaint, we take the time to inspect the area with our management team and ushers. If we notice an issue, we will shut that screen down.”

The theater emphasized that, in its nearly three years of operation, there has never been a confirmed case of bedbugs in the facility. Despite this, they follow up on every report with their pest control provider, regardless of whether any pests are found.

The theater also acknowledged the presence of other pests at times, including birds, bats, and field mice, as well as an isolated incident involving a spider bite. However, they stressed that bedbugs have never been confirmed in the cinema.

“As normal, we are scheduled for our regular carpet, tile, and pressure washing this fall,” the statement continued. “We are also doing a deep clean of all seats, all theaters. This was scheduled prior to this incident and not reactionary.”

Danbarry assured customers that they are working to address any discomfort that may have occurred, stating that any issues could be related to cleaning chemicals, dust mites, or other factors. The theater reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and clean environment for all patrons.

The theater concluded the statement with an optimistic message, saying, “We look forward to seeing you very soon at the movies!”

As of this report, no further incidents have been confirmed, and Danbarry Cinema remains open to the public.
