BONDUEL, Wisconsin — Milo’s Poultry Farms, LLC, based in Bonduel, Wisconsin, is recalling all of its eggs sold under the “Milo’s Poultry Farms” and “Tony’s Fresh Market” brands due to potential Salmonella contamination. Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause serious, sometimes life-threatening infections, particularly in young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella may experience symptoms such as fever, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can spread to the bloodstream, potentially leading to severe conditions like arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
The recalled eggs were distributed across Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan through various retail stores and food service distributors. The recall affects:
- All carton sizes and types of eggs are labeled “Milo’s Poultry Farms,” regardless of the expiration date.
- All carton sizes of eggs are under the “Tony’s Fresh Market” brand, regardless of the expiration date.
- All cases of eggs intended for retail and food service distribution, regardless of the expiration date.
The recall follows an FDA notification that environmental samples from Milo’s Poultry Farms tested positive for Salmonella. Further testing using whole genome sequencing linked these samples to an ongoing Salmonella outbreak investigation.
Milo’s Poultry Farms, LLC has halted all production and distribution operations and will conduct thorough testing and sanitization of its farms and processing equipment to ensure safety.
Consumers who have purchased eggs from “Milo’s Poultry Farms” or “Tony’s Fresh Market” are advised not to eat them. For more information or questions, consumers can contact Milo’s Poultry Farms at (715) 758-6709.
