MEIGA COUNTY, Ohio – Law enforcement is currently investigating a potential swatting incident involving a report of an active shooter at Meigs Elementary School.
The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement via social media, confirming they were alerted to a Facebook post claiming there was an active shooter at the school. As a precaution, officials have placed the school on lockdown.
“Our officers are on scene and will continue to investigate this report,” the sheriff’s office stated, emphasizing that there is no evidence of an active shooter at this time.

UPDATE: The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there was no active shooter and that the incident was indeed a hoax.
