CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police and motorists in Ross County encountered an unexpected situation Friday afternoon when a naked man was spotted running down a busy highway.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around noon to the area near South Bridge Street and Route 23 after receiving reports of a man without clothes attempting to stop vehicles and enter passing cars.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers assisted deputies in the effort to safely take the man into custody. According to the sheriff’s office report, the man was experiencing mental health issues. His family informed deputies that he had recently been released from prison and believed he was being chased, claiming his family was in danger.
The man was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was placed on a psychiatric hold. He faces several charges, including disorderly conduct, obstruction, public indecency, and inducing panic.
