CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police in Chillicothe are investigating the alleged attempted sextortion of an 11-year-old child.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers were alerted by the child’s parents after he received messages through email asking general questions about him. The content of the messages, according to the police report, then turned sexual. The suspect reportedly sent pictures of the child that had been previously shared on social media apps, followed by several explicit images of a male reproductive organ. The suspect then allegedly demanded the child send money, threatening to post the pictures online if he didn’t comply.
The family stated in the police report that they blocked the initial email account, but additional messages continued to come from other accounts.
Officers noted in the report that they were uncertain if the suspect could be tracked. They advised the parents to keep blocking the unwanted messages until the officer could “find out what, if anything, could be done to track down the responsible individuals.”
