CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Walmart customers flocked to the newly renovated Supercenter at 85 River Trace this morning, as the store officially reopened following a significant transformation.

The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Walmart associates, local officials, and community members. The celebration began with the Presentation of the Colors by the V.F.W. Post 108 and a performance of the National Anthem by the Unioto High School Choir. Notably, ten long-serving associates were recognized for their dedication, each having been with the company for over 25 years.
Store manager Nicole Meddock highlighted the extensive upgrades, which include a revamped customer service area, an expanded pharmacy with private consultation rooms, and a redesigned Vision Center. The store now offers an increased infant area, updated apparel department, and improved electronics section, among other enhancements.
Some of the new features at the store include:
- Activated corners: Exciting displays are featured at the corners of certain departments to pull customers in and help them touch, feel and become a part of the space, allowing them to discover all that Walmart has to offer.
- Elevated departments: Transformed stores feature displays showcasing products that are out of their boxes so customers can imagine them fitting into their daily lives.
- More space to discover: Walmart has purposefully created more space for customers to explore and discover the breadth and depth of what their local store has to offer.
- Digital touchpoints: These new touchpoints located throughout the store help to communicate to customers the vast range of products and services Walmart offers online through the use of QR codes and digital screens.
- For example, in Walmart’s Pets area, a customer may scan the QR code to find additional dog bed options, learn about Walmart’s pet insurance service options or have a 20-pound bag of kibble delivered to their door.

“Since 1996, our Walmart store has proudly served the Chillicothe community,” Meddock said. “We’re certain these upgrades will not only provide a fresh look but also enhance the overall shopping experience.”
The grand reopening featured giveaways and samples from popular vendors like Frito Lay and Pepsi, while beloved mascots entertained children. The store also unveiled a vibrant mural celebrating the local culture, part of Walmart’s Community Mural Program aimed at honoring the areas it serves.
n addition, Walmart customers can save time and money by shopping when, where, and how they want as the Chillicothe store continues to offer the following innovations:
- Pickup – Walmart’s Pickup option has become a favorite among busy shoppers. It provides the convenience of online shopping and allows them to quickly collect their groceries without stepping out of their vehicles. The best part is that Walmart Grocery Pickup is completely free of charge. Furthermore, customers using SNAP in most states have the option to avail themselves of the pickup service as well.
- Delivery – Walmart’s convenient delivery service is also a hit with customers. Even more, Walmart has now made both pickup and delivery contact free. Express delivery – customers now have the option to have their deliveries made in under two hours.
- Walmart Pay – a touch-free way to pay.
As part of its commitment to the community, Walmart presented $7,000 in grants to local nonprofits, including $2,000 to Downtown Chillicothe and $1,500 to the Ross County YMCA.
The renovation is part of Walmart’s Signature Experience initiative, which aims to elevate the in-store shopping experience. Customers can now enjoy improved navigation through the store, digital touchpoints for product information, and expanded services like grocery pickup and delivery.

Walmart+ members also benefit from exclusive services, including free delivery from the store and early access to deals.
The renovated Supercenter is expected to provide a modern shopping experience for the Chillicothe community, further solidifying Walmart’s role as a local staple.
