CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A domestic disturbance on Friday night led to a high-stakes manhunt involving local law enforcement and the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Around 8:00 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a call reporting a domestic altercation, setting off a sequence of events that brought multiple law enforcement agencies together. It happened in the 6000 block of Marietta Road.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office identified 39-year-old Allen Rooney as the suspect. Witnesses reported that Rooney had fled the scene, armed with a rifle, prompting deputies to request additional assistance. Units from the Ohio Highway Patrol joined the operation, including aviation support to assist with the search.
After an extensive search, authorities were able to locate Rooney a short distance from his residence. According to a statement from Sheriff George Lavender, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident, and no injuries were reported.
Sheriff Lavender’s official statement noted that Rooney now faces multiple charges, including domestic violence, aggravated menacing, inducing panic, and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
