CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Tyler L. Boetcher has been honored as the 2024 Trooper of the Year for the Chillicothe Post, celebrating his exemplary service, commitment, and leadership throughout the year.
Trooper Boetcher, 30, was selected by his peers for his notable enthusiasm, leadership, professionalism, and dedication to community engagement. His colleagues praised his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and exceptional professionalism when working with fellow officers, supervisors, and the community at large.
The Trooper of the Year award is a stepping stone to further recognition, as Trooper Boetcher now qualifies for consideration for the District and State Trooper of the Year Awards, which will be announced in the coming months.
Trooper Boetcher has built a remarkable career since joining the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2015. Notably, he has received the prestigious Criminal Patrol Award every year from 2016 to 2024 and has earned the ACE Award from 2017 to 2019, as well as in 2021. He also received the Blue Max Award in 2019 for his impressive record of recovering stolen vehicles, making him the top trooper in Ohio that year for vehicle recoveries.
His career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol began as part of the 159th Academy Class, after which he served at the Lebanon Post and worked with the Jackson District Criminal Patrol Section before joining the Chillicothe Post. Raised in Pickaway County, Trooper Boetcher is a graduate of Teays Valley High School.
Today, Trooper Boetcher and his wife, Tayde, reside in Chillicothe with their two children, Tia and Truitt. His dedication to law enforcement and the Chillicothe community continues to leave a lasting impact and set a high standard for service in the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
