CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Land Reutilization Corporation has secured $1 million in funding from the Ohio Department of Development’s Brownfield Remediation Program. The funds will be used to remediate the former CSX property located next to Chillicothe’s City Transit Station.

The cleanup aims to prepare the site for future development, including plans for affordable workforce housing and transit-related facilities. Additionally, the project includes infrastructure to support electric vehicle transportation.
The Brownfield Remediation Program, a statewide initiative, has distributed more than $560 million to address and redevelop abandoned and dilapidated properties across Ohio.
Local officials say the project will support economic growth and community development. Once completed, the revitalized site is expected to accommodate both residential and commercial uses, contributing to Chillicothe’s long-term development goals.
