180th Fighter Wing to take to the skies over southern Ohio

SWANTON, Ohio — The 180th Fighter Wing from Swanton, Ohio, is scheduled to carry out an air defense exercise over Southern Ohio on Monday, Dec. 16, between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Residents in and around Hillsboro may see or hear fighter jets flying near a Civil Air Patrol plane, which will act as a simulated threat known as a “Track of Interest.” The exercise aims to evaluate response times and coordination during potential air defense scenarios.

The schedule could change due to weather conditions, with flights potentially delayed, moved, or canceled.
