ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — For the second time in less than a year, a toddler was found wandering unattended in the small community of Bourneville in Ross County. According to the report provided by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched on January 2 after a good Samaritan spotted the child, allegedly only wearing a T-shirt and pull-up, playing alone in an alleyway between residences.
Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the good Samaritan who, according to the report, took the child to their home and called law enforcement.
The deputy eventually contacted the child’s father. The father reportedly told the deputy that he and the child had laid down for a nap and that the toddler had gotten up before the father and exited the residence. The deputy searched for earlier incidents and found one similar to February 2024, when the children exited the residence and crossed busy Route 50 by themselves.
Children’s services, the report said, were advised of the situation.
The report did not cite whether any criminal charges are pending in the incident.
