WILMINGTON, Ohio – A strong winter storm swept through the region on January 10-11, leaving behind notable snowfall accumulations just days after Winter Storm Blair brought nearly a foot of snow to the Scioto Valley. According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, this latest system added to the region’s winter woes, with snow totals ranging from 2 to 4.5 inches.
Key snowfall reports include:
- Montgomery County: Dayton International Airport recorded the region’s highest total at 4.5 inches. New Lebanon and Moraine also saw significant snow, with 4.4 and 3.8 inches respectively.
- Clinton County: Wilmington experienced up to 4.1 inches of accumulation, while nearby areas reported totals of 3.5 to 3.7 inches.
- Greene County: Beavercreek saw 3.9 inches of snow, and Fairborn and Xenia recorded totals between 3.3 and 4.0 inches.
- Highland County: Hillsboro reported 2.8 inches, with Winchester seeing up to 3.5 inches.
- Scioto County: Portsmouth-Sciotoville recorded 2.0 inches, adding to the significant snow already brought by Winter Storm Blair earlier in the week.
The storm followed on the heels of Blair, which dumped close to 12 inches across parts of the Scioto Valley, creating a travel nightmare. While this latest system brought less severe impacts, the cumulative snow and freezing temperatures have kept roads icy.
Local road crews have worked tirelessly to ensure highways and main thoroughfares are cleared.
