LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has temporarily closed the Oakley C. Collins Bridge in Lawrence County following concerns over safety due to ice accumulation.
ODOT officials stated that the closure is necessary because ice has accumulated on the bridge’s cables following the recent snowstorm. There is a risk that the ice could fall onto the roadway, creating hazardous driving conditions.
“We are temporarily closing the Oakley C. Collins Bridge for safety reasons,” ODOT said in a statement. “We will monitor the situation over the next few hours to assess the conditions.”
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes and exercise caution while traveling in the area. ODOT will continue to evaluate the situation and provide updates as necessary.
