WAVERLY, Ohio — The Waverly City Council has declared a State of Emergency as the city faces a significant water crisis. All residents and water customers in Waverly are now under a Do Not Use Order for any purpose until further notice, with the exception of critical users such as hospitals, nursing homes, and dialysis centers.
The emergency stems from a major leak in the Waverly Water System, which has caused water pressure to plummet to little or no levels across the area. The Waverly Water & Sewer Department is actively working to isolate and repair the issue but has urged residents to strictly adhere to the Do Not Use Order to conserve what little water remains. This conservation is crucial for crews to expedite the repair process.
Residents are advised to refrain from using water for drinking, cooking, bathing, or any other purpose until further updates are provided. City officials are coordinating efforts to address the situation as quickly as possible.

UPDATE: The Waverly Fire Department provided the following update on their social media account saying, “Currently, the Village is not directing businesses to close. That is up to each business to decide. However, this Do Not Use Order is for ALL water uses. Drinking, flushing, cleaning, etc. except for critical facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, and dialysis centers. Please do not use any water from the Waverly Municipal Water System.”
