CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ohio University Chillicothe is gearing up for its upcoming Bobcat Career Fairs, set to take place on April 22 and 24 at the Shoemaker Center. The university is inviting students and alumni to connect with potential employers during these events, which are tailored to specific career fields.

The career fair on April 22 will cater to those interested in business, health services administration, communication, and nursing. The second event, scheduled for April 24, will focus on careers in law enforcement, criminal justice, psychology, history, social work, and sociology. Both fairs will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Employers looking to participate in the fairs have until April 11 to register. They will be provided with tables, chairs, and lunch during the event.

Sarah Dreitzler-Swenson, the career development coordinator at Ohio University Chillicothe, emphasized the value of the career fairs, noting that they provide a great opportunity for students to explore various career paths and network with industry professionals. The events are free for students and alumni to attend.

Attendees can expect to meet representatives from a diverse range of fields including banking, technology, tourism, insurance, healthcare, social services, and education.

To help students prepare, the university is offering three virtual career workshops: Resume Basics, Interview Basics, and Professionalism Basics. These workshops are available either live via Teams or through the Canvas platform. Students who complete all three workshops will receive a portfolio to carry their career fair materials.

Dreitzler-Swenson also recommends that students have their resumes reviewed during a career coaching appointment before the fair and consider scheduling an interview preparation session to boost their confidence.

For students needing business casual attire for the event, the Student Resource Center Career Closet in Bennett Hall 129 is available. The career fair on April 24 will wrap up with a fashion show featuring outfits from the Career Closet.

More information about the career fairs and other services can be found on the Ohio University Chillicothe website.
