CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to bring damaging winds, large hail, and a heightened risk of isolated tornadoes to central Ohio on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

A storm system moving east from the Upper Midwest will trigger storms across Ohio Tuesday afternoon and evening, likely affecting the evening commute. The storms are expected between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., with the Columbus metro area impacted from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats, with heavy rain potentially causing localized flooding. Rainfall amounts are expected to stay under 1 inch.

Some non-severe storms and rain may persist after 10 p.m. in southern Ohio. Cloudy skies and scattered showers are forecast for Wednesday, with more widespread rain and storms Thursday into Friday, though these are not expected to be severe.

Temperatures will drop to the 60s by Friday and continue into the weekend, which is expected to bring dry conditions and sunshine.
