CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 70-year-old woman died Monday after her vehicle failed to yield at an intersection and collided with a pickup truck in southern Ohio, authorities said.
The crash happened around 3:35 p.m. at U.S. Route 23 and DeBord Road in Huntington Township, Ross County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Carol Cunningham, of Chillicothe, was driving a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox and attempting to cross the southbound lane of U.S. 23 to head north when her vehicle entered the path of a 2013 Ford F-350 driven by Ashley Williams, 30, of Chesapeake, troopers said.
Cunningham was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Williams and her two passengers — Beulah McKenzie, 57, and Abygail Williams, 10, both of Chesapeake — were treated at the same hospital for minor injuries.
The patrol’s Chillicothe Post is investigating. Troopers were assisted by Veterans Affairs Fire/Rescue, Scioto Township Fire and EMS, Huntington Township EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Traffic on U.S. 23 was reduced to one lane in each direction for about two hours during the on-scene investigation.
