CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Justin Myers, a beloved mower racer, husband to Sarah, and father of three, was seriously injured in a horrific accident during the Mow Down ALS race at 2 Brothers Raceway in Chillicothe, on Saturday, September 27. The incident has left the tight-knit racing community rallying around Myers and his family as he faces a challenging recovery, by launching a GoFundMe.
Myers was immediately transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where medical staff determined his injuries required specialized care. He was then transferred to OSU Hospital in Columbus, where doctors discovered that Myers had shattered the ball of his humerus at his shoulder into three pieces. On Monday, Myers underwent extensive surgery to repair the damage, with surgeons installing numerous plates and pins in his right shoulder.
As an auto body technician who relies on his hands for his livelihood, Myers faces significant challenges ahead. The severity of his injury means he will be unable to work for at least the next couple of months, placing financial strain on his family, for whom he is the primary breadwinner. Supporters are now calling on the community to provide assistance to Myers, Sarah, and their three children during this difficult time.
The road to recovery is expected to be long, with months of intensive physical therapy ahead. Friends and family are asking for prayers to support Myers through the emotional and physical highs and lows of his rehabilitation, expressing hope that the power of community support will give him the strength to regain full function.
The mower racing community has already shown an outpouring of support, with many offering aid and prayers for Myers’ recovery. “Thank you to everyone who assisted, cared for, and has prayed over Justin so far,” a family spokesperson said. The community continues to come together, hoping to see Myers back on the track and fully recovered.
