ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A pursuit and subsequent crash left the suspect fighting for their life.

According to preliminary reports from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began just before 10:30 p.m. last night in the area of SR 41 and US 50 in Bainbridge. Deputies stated in their initial report that the suspect’s vehicle was missing a license plate. When the traffic stop was initiated, the deputy said the driver of the SUV fled.

The pursuit continued on SR 41 heading toward the Pike County line, where the suspect crashed, and the vehicle careened down a 150-foot ravine. EMS on the scene reported life-threatening injuries to the suspect. The driver was transported via medical helicopter to a Columbus area hospital.

Law enforcement officials in Ross County have yet to release the suspect’s name and/or current condition. The incident remains under investigation. The Guardian is working to gather additional details on the pursuit.
