CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Ross County Sheriff’s Office has released a report a week after a deadly fire on Sullivan Road in Ross County.
According to the sheriff’s office report provided to the Scioto Valley Guardian, deputies were dispatched around 6 a.m. Dec. 15 to a residential structure fire after receiving a report that at least one person was believed to be inside.
The report states the structure was a park-style camper trailer that had collapsed, with no walls standing. The report also states that the occupant and a dog were believed to have been inside.
Fire crews from Huntington and Scioto townships located human remains, according to the report. An investigator photographed the scene and examined the remains before they were transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, the report said.
To assist in the investigation, the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office was called.
The victim’s name was not released in the report provided to the Guardian because it was withheld by the sheriff’s office. Additional details have not been released. The Guardian said it will continue to monitor the case.
