FRANKFORT, Ohio — A traffic stop for an equipment violation escalated into a brief pursuit and arrest Thursday night in Frankfort, during which two Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers temporarily stopped responding over the radio, prompting a multi-agency law enforcement response.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers from the Chillicothe Post stopped a 2006 Ford Focus at about 8:13 p.m. for an equipment defect within the village of Frankfort near the intersection of High Street and Doc Stinson Alley. The vehicle was driven by Duane A. Hale, 48, of Frankfort.
Troopers said Hale ignored commands, resisted arrest, and fled on foot into his residence on North Second Street. Troopers followed him into the home and used a less-lethal Taser deployment to take him into custody.
During the incident, two troopers briefly stopped radioing back, which led to additional units being dispatched as a precaution. Deputies from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist.
No injuries were reported.
Hale was charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, resisting arrest, defective exhaust, and driving under suspension. He was transported to the Ross County Jail, where he was incarcerated.
