JEFFERSONVILLE, Ohio — With a major winter storm forecast to move into the region this weekend, communities across southern Ohio are preparing for what could be significant snowfall and hazardous travel conditions.

In Jeffersonville, a Fayette County village, officials are reminding residents of newly implemented permanent parking restrictions that take effect during snow events. The rules are designed to keep streets clear for plows and emergency vehicles when snowfall reaches 2½ inches or more, when the mayor declares a snow emergency, or when the National Weather Service issues a Winter Storm Warning for the county.

Under the policy, vehicles may not delay or obstruct snow‑plowing equipment, and drivers must move their vehicles out of the plow path once operations begin. Unattended vehicles left on the street during active plowing may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.

Village officials said the restrictions are necessary to allow curb‑to‑curb plowing and to maintain access for fire, police, and medical responders. With accumulating snow expected, residents are urged to plan for off‑street parking or remain with their vehicles while plowing is underway.

Several other communities across the region have similar parking rules that activate during winter storms as local governments brace for potentially heavy snowfall.
