ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A precautionary boil advisory was issued Wednesday for parts of Ross County after a water leak prompted concerns about water quality, according to Ross County Water Company, Inc.
The advisory affects customers in the areas of Westfall Road, Egypt Pike, and Cattail Road. Water company officials said the advisory was issued out of an abundance of caution while crews address the leak and assess the system.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to boil tap water before drinking, cooking, or using it for food preparation until further notice. Officials did not immediately say how long the advisory is expected to remain in effect.
The water company said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the advisory took effect Tuesday. The boil advisory went into effect Wednesday morning, Jan. 4.
