SWANTON, Ohio — The Ohio Air National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing will conduct an air defense exercise over eastern Michigan on Monday, Feb. 9, between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Residents in and around the Flint area may hear or see fighter jets operating in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft participating in the exercise. The Civil Air Patrol aircraft will serve as a Track of Interest, or TOI, a term used to describe an aircraft identified as a potential threat.

The exercise is intended to evaluate response and coordination procedures among participating units.

Officials said the flights are scheduled for the morning hours but could be relocated, delayed or canceled due to inclement weather.
