ATHENS, Ohio — The City of Athens has issued a boil advisory for part of Hudson Street following a water system issue, city officials announced Tuesday.
The advisory took effect at 12 p.m. Feb. 17 and will remain in effect until 2:30 p.m. Feb. 18. It applies to Hudson Street south of Lincoln Street.
During the advisory period, residents in the affected area are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or preparing food. Officials say boiling water kills bacteria and other organisms that may be present.
City officials did not immediately release details about what prompted the advisory.
Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the City of Athens Water Department.
