SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — A Portsmouth woman was arrested Monday on felony drug charges following an investigation by the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, according to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman and Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer.
At approximately 11:51 a.m. Feb. 23, task force officers executed narcotics-related search warrants at the home of 39-year-old Brandy Cottrell, located at 70A Upton Road in Portsmouth, as well as at her business at 8595 Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg, authorities said.
During searches of the properties, officers seized suspected fentanyl, suspected crack cocaine, digital scales, and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking. In total, investigators reported seizing approximately 218 grams of suspected fentanyl and/or crack cocaine.

Cottrell was arrested and charged with trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, and possession of drugs, a second-degree felony.
She was booked into the Scioto County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Authorities said the case will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office for presentation to a Scioto County grand jury for consideration of additional felony charges.
Sheriff Thoroughman and Chief Brewer thanked deputies and patrol officers from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and the Portsmouth Police Department for assisting with the warrant executions.
