McARTHUR, Ohio — The Vinton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wide range of calls for service between Feb. 25 and March 1, including domestic disturbances, theft reports, traffic stops, arrests, and multiple crashes.

During the five-day period, deputies handled several domestic-related incidents, including disturbances on State Route 160 in Clinton Township, Central Avenue in Hamden, and State Route 324 in Clinton Township. An assault was also reported on West Main Street in McArthur.

The activity log shows deputies were active on patrol throughout the county, conducting numerous traffic stops on U.S. Highway 50, State Route 93, State Route 32, and other roadways across multiple townships. Deputies also assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol on U.S. 50 in Richland Township.

The sheriff’s office investigated multiple theft complaints during the week, including reports on Two Mile Road in Brown Township and Old Dixon Road in Elk Township. A stolen vehicle was reported Feb. 28 on Wolf Hill Road in Elk Township. Deputies also took reports of fraud in Wilkesville Township and harassment in Zaleski.

Two individuals were taken into custody on outstanding warrants.

On Feb. 26, deputies arrested Emma Risner, 21, of Wilkesville, on a Vinton County warrant for failure to appear. She was transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

On Feb. 27, deputies arrested Richard Hunt, 56, of South Bloomingville, on a Vinton County warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. He was also transported to SEORJ.

Additional calls included reports of narcotics complaints in Clinton Township and Jackson Township, a sex offense report in Zaleski, a mental health crisis on State Route 56 in Swan Township, an unruly juvenile complaint in Eagle Township and another in Dundas, and multiple property damage crashes in Hamden and on Murphy Remy Road.

Deputies also responded to animal complaints, disabled vehicles, suspicious vehicles, alarm drops, and 911 hangups throughout the reporting period.

All suspects, arrested individuals, and persons issued citations are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
