MADISON COUNTY, Ohio — Law enforcement in Madison County issued a rather unusual alert Tuesday — and this one has feathers.
According to a social media post from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are on the lookout for a loose ostrich roaming in the area of Lafayette Plain City Road NE and Taylor Blair Road NE.
Yes — an ostrich.
The sheriff’s office warned drivers to use caution in the area, as the large bird remains on the move and could pose a hazard along roadways.

In a post that quickly caught attention online, officials asked anyone who owns the ostrich — or knows who does — to contact the sheriff’s office.
The “feathered suspect,” as some are now calling it, remains at large.
Authorities say the goal is simple: locate the owner and safely return the bird before it causes any issues.
Until then, drivers in the area may want to keep an extra eye out — because it’s not every day you have to watch for an ostrich crossing the road.
