CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office has placed several donated motorcycles into service after receiving them from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey announced.

The motorcycles replaced older units that lacked modern safety features, according to Hafey. The donated bikes were painted at a local shop before being put into service.

Enhanced enforcement planned

The sheriff said the motorcycles will be used for parades and escorts, but also pledged to deploy them for traffic enforcement in problem areas throughout the county.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Superintendent Colonel Charles Jones facilitated the donation to the local agency.

Agency collaboration

The transfer represents a partnership between state and local law enforcement agencies to improve equipment and public safety capabilities in Pickaway County.
