CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man wanted on two Kentucky rape charges was arrested Thursday after police found him hiding behind a furnace in a basement on Cedar Street, according to a Chillicothe Police Department report.
Matthew Green was taken into custody at a residence in the 500 block of Cedar Street after Danville Police Department Detective Mullins contacted Chillicothe police, advising that Green was a wanted fugitive who may have connections to the address, according to the report.
Green had two active arrest warrants for rape from Kentucky. The first warrant was issued Jan. 29 by the Jamestown Police Department in Boyle County Circuit Court. The second warrant was issued on March 4 by the Commonwealth Attorney in Danville, according to the report.
Chillicothe police responded to 518 Cedar Street on Thursday. A resident consented to officers searching the basement for Green, according to the report.

Officers found a locked door to a furnace room. When the homeowner unlocked it, someone inside pushed it shut and relocked it multiple times, according to the report. A male voice from inside stated he was alone in the room and was “naked and attempting to insert an enema,” according to the report.
Officers advised they would search the room for Green and that anyone found harboring him could face criminal charges. The homeowner consented to officers forcing the door open if necessary, according to the report.

When officers pushed the door open, they found a naked male in the bathroom area of the furnace room. Police then found Green crouched down behind the furnace, according to the report.
Green was arrested on the Kentucky warrants. Dispatch confirmed extradition on both warrants. He was transported to Ross County Jail and held as a fugitive from justice pending a March 30 court date in Chillicothe Municipal Court, according to the report.
Evan Graves, 22, was arrested and charged with obstructing justice for allegedly hindering the discovery and apprehension of Green by harboring and concealing him in the furnace room, repeatedly shutting and locking the door, and telling officers Green was not inside, according to the report. Graves was transported to Ross County Jail pending a March 30 court date in Chillicothe Municipal Court.
Green is presumed innocent of the rape charges until proven guilty in a Kentucky court.
