CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A teller at Homeland Credit Union in Chillicothe gave $500 cash to a man who presented another person’s driver’s license, allowing the theft from a customer’s account, according to a Chillicothe Police Department report.
The incident occurred around 1:21 p.m. on March 19 at the credit union’s branch at 25 Consumer Center Drive.
According to the official police report, a white male with long hair wearing a ball cap and button-up shirt entered the business and showed the teller the victim’s driver’s license, then asked for $500 cash. The teller, officers said, gave the man $500 from the victim’s checking account.
The credit union discovered the theft after the victim reported the fraudulent withdrawal. The business reimbursed the man in full, according to the report.
The branch manager reportedly provided police with surveillance video showing the suspect inside the business, but the camera angles allegedly did not show his face clearly. Officers stated in their report that a photograph from another branch location showed the suspect wearing the same clothing description.
The Chillicothe Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
