CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Building Department issued 54 building permits in March with a combined project value of $6.6 million, according to department records.
The department administers the Ohio Building Code for multi-family housing with four or more units, commercial construction projects, and manufactured homes in unincorporated Ross County, Pike County, and the Village of Waverly, along with several other jurisdictions.
The largest project is the $4.5 million Hopewell Regional Visitor’s Center at 89 Riverside St. in Chillicothe. The Board of Commissioners of Ross County received conditional plan approval for the facility, which will serve as a visitor’s center and office space with exhibit space highlighting Ross County history.
Pike County led with seven permits totaling $625,000, including a $250,000 office and storage building for Beaver Creek Street Roofing in Piketon, a $175,000 AT&T wireless equipment upgrade on Whiskey Run Road, and a $100,000 conditional approval for Western Local School’s agricultural building in Latham.
Waverly and Waverly Residential combined for 13 permits totaling $583,166, led by a $500,000 conditional approval for Coopers Oak’s new single-story office building at 300 James Road.
Greenfield and Greenfield Residential combined for 18 permits totaling $432,519, including a $140,000 amphitheater structure for Felson Park and a $65,000 whole house remodel.
Unincorporated Ross County received nine permits totaling $194,750, including a $150,000 water system installation at Adena Regional Medical Center, a $21,150 roof replacement at Bridge Street Landing, and a $12,500 T-Mobile facility upgrade.
Piketon received two permits totaling $135,000 for a $120,000 Taco Bell remodel and a $15,000 Johnson Dairy Bar service upgrade.
