CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A resident is claiming their vehicle was struck by gunfire Monday on U.S. Route 772 south of Chillicothe, and says the Ross County Sheriff’s Office already had an active investigation open for similar reports in the area.
The claim surfaced Monday in a social media post in which the resident warned others to use caution while driving through the stretch of Route 772 past Blain Highway toward Piketon.
“Got shot at today on 772 in Chillicothe,” the resident wrote. “Past Blain Hway towards Piketon…so be careful if you’re driving through there! Sheriff’s office already had an investigation open for other reports of the same.”
As of publication, the Ross County Sheriff’s Office had not issued any public advisory or press release regarding the incident or any related investigation. The Scioto Valley Guardian has reached out to the sheriff’s office for comment and will update this story as information becomes available.
Residents traveling that stretch of Route 772 are urged to remain alert.
