CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — What began as a single social media post warning drivers about gunfire on Route 772 has grown into a significant law enforcement investigation after the Ross County Sheriff’s Office fielded at least eight separate reports of vehicles being struck by BB gun fire, with juvenile suspects now identified and charged in connection with multiple incidents.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office morning media log dated April 7, 2026, deputies received a surge of BB gun complaints throughout the day, with reports flooding in beginning around 8 a.m. and continuing into the early afternoon. The incidents are spread across multiple dates, with several reports tied to incidents that occurred as far back as April 5.

In total, deputies took reports on at least eight vehicles damaged by BB/pellet gun fire throughout the day. At least one victim declined to pursue charges. Several cases remain under active investigation.
