CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ross County recorded 43 cases of chlamydia in the first quarter of the year, making it the most frequently reported infectious disease in the county’s latest surveillance report.
The Ross County Health District’s quarterly data lists a range of state‑reportable illnesses tracked from January through March. After chlamydia, the next most commonly reported conditions included chronic hepatitis C with 12 cases, gonococcal infection with 10 cases, and influenza‑associated hospitalizations with 10 cases.
The report also documented 18 COVID‑19 hospitalizations, seven cases of campylobacteriosis, and smaller numbers of other illnesses such as Lyme disease, pertussis, salmonellosis, and RSV‑related hospitalizations.
Single cases were reported for several conditions, including C. auris, cryptosporidiosis, Legionnaires’ disease, varicella, and invasive Group A streptococcal infection.
The health district releases quarterly infectious‑disease summaries as part of ongoing public health monitoring in Ross County.
