CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio — An 18-year-old former daycare worker is facing a criminal charge after allegedly having inappropriate contact with a child in his care and later deleting potential evidence from his phone, according to Clermont County court records.

Christopher Helmer, of Amelia, has been charged with tampering with evidence following an investigation by Pierce Township police.

Court documents state Helmer admitted to detectives that he kissed a child at the daycare where he worked and told investigators he had developed a sexual interest in the child.

Investigators also allege Helmer had photographs of the child on his phone taken at the facility. He told detectives he deleted the images after he was fired in late March.

The case remains under investigation. No further charges have been announced at this time.

Helmer is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
