CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 19-year-old Chillicothe man is dead following the motorcycle crash at the intersection of Veterans Parkway and US Route 50 that the Guardian was first to report Sunday evening.
Ryan Hayes, 19, of Chillicothe, was pronounced deceased at Adena Regional Medical Center after being transported by Union Township EMS. He did not survive the injuries he sustained in the crash.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Jackson Communication Center received a report of the crash at approximately 8:10 p.m. Sunday. A 2022 Hyundai Palisade driven by Lois Jones, 79, of Portsmouth, was traveling eastbound on US 50 and attempting to make a left turn onto Veterans Parkway when Hayes, riding a 2001 Honda VT750 motorcycle westbound on US 50, struck the left front of the Hyundai. The motorcycle then slid off the right side of the roadway.
Jones did not report any injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
