WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County Public Health will host its second annual community baby shower next month, offering expectant parents and families with young infants free supplies, local resources and a chance to win prizes.
The event, called “Locally Grown: Baby on the Way,” is set for Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Washington Middle School. It is open to expectant parents in Fayette County and to caregivers with a child under 6 months old at the time of the event, the health district said in a Facebook post.
Attendees can expect local resource tables, free baby supplies, games, food and prize giveaways. The health district is encouraging families to pre-register online at bit.ly/babyshowerrsvp26, which grants access to an exclusive pre-registration prize drawing, expedited check-in at the door and less paperwork to fill out upon arrival.
The health district launched the community baby shower in 2025, drawing expectant and new parents to Washington Middle School’s cafeteria for a first-of-its-kind event built around infant health resources rather than gifts for a single family. Numerous local organizations, including Adena Midwives, the Carnegie Public Library, Washington City Schools and Walmart, took part as sponsors and resource partners.
Fayette County Public Health, headquartered at 317 S. Fayette St. in Washington Court House, provides a range of maternal and child health services, including the Reproductive Health and Wellness Program, childhood immunizations and school nursing for districts throughout the county. The community baby shower is designed to connect families early with those services and other local support programs before a baby arrives.
