PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — City residents will be able to drop off old tires free of charge next weekend as part of a Tire Amnesty Day event organized by the Portsmouth City Health Department.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 25, at 55 Mary Ann St., according to the health department.
The health department said the drop-off is intended to help keep the community clean and reduce mosquito breeding areas caused by tires that collect standing water when left outdoors.
The event is open only to City of Portsmouth residents; businesses are not eligible to participate, the health department said. Tires that are still mounted on rims will not be accepted.
Residents with questions about the event can contact the Portsmouth City Health Department at 740-353-5153.
