CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe residents recycled more than 6,600 pounds of old computers, monitors, printers and other electronics during a weekend drive-through event, the city said.

The Electronics Drop-Off Event was held Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Ohio University Chillicothe’s Stevenson Center, as the city partnered with Goodwill of South Central Ohio and Ohio University Chillicothe for the drive.
The drive-through format let residents unload devices without getting out of their vehicles, and organizers accepted laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, scanners, cellphones of any brand, smart watches, cameras, hard drives, cords, chargers and batteries, among other electronics, according to a list Goodwill provided ahead of the event. Residents were asked to remove personal data from their devices before dropping them off.
The drive was tied to Goodwill’s Dell Reconnect technology recycling program, which accepts electronics of any brand regardless of manufacturer and diverts them from landfills.
The city thanked residents and its partners for the turnout, saying every device dropped off helps keep valuable materials out of landfills while protecting the environment.
