ROCKY FORK LAKE, Ohio — Firefighters with the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District will spray down a stretch of pavement near Rocky Fork Campground this summer, giving families a free way to beat the heat while getting a look at the district’s equipment up close.
The district’s “Rocky Fork Water Days” will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on three Saturdays — July 25, Aug. 15 and Sept. 12 — with crews and an engine set up just past the marina, before the campground entrance, according to a post from the district.
“Cool off. Have fun. Make memories,” the district said in its announcement, inviting residents to reach out with questions ahead of each date.
Rocky Fork Campground sits along the northwest shore of Rocky Fork Lake within Rocky Fork State Park in Highland County, a popular summer draw for boaters and campers from across the region.
Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District covers more than 360 square miles across Highland, Ross and Fayette counties, including 10 townships, the village of Greenfield and the city of Hillsboro, according to the district. The department regularly builds community events like the water days into its summer schedule as a way to connect with residents outside of emergency calls.
