CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ross County sheriff’s deputies, K9 teams and a drone unit searched for a missing 2-year-old boy last seen near the 3500 block of Liberty Hill Road shortly before noon Friday, according to officials.

Units were dispatched around 11:50 a.m. after a caller reported the child missing. The boy had reportedly been in and out of a home in the area, and a caregiver told deputies the child had last been seen about 15 minutes earlier.

Searchers on scene reported a creek running behind a neighboring property and checked the area as a precaution, though units on the air said they did not believe the child had gone in that direction.

The search expanded to include the Cattail Road area, with K9 handlers and a drone team assigned to specific search sections. Dispatchers also directed a unit to check the house itself again as part of the effort.

The search remained active as of early Friday afternoon. No further updates were immediately available.
