WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners will consider a resolution Tuesday that would freeze new data center development for a year across seven townships, according to the meeting agenda.
The proposed one-year moratorium would halt data center-related zoning applications, zoning approvals and building permits in unincorporated areas of Concord, Green, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Paint and Perry townships, the agenda states.
The measure comes as county officials have fielded a wave of annexation petitions tied to data center pushback in recent weeks, as landowners and developers seek to move parcels into or out of township jurisdiction ahead of potential large-scale projects.
Commissioners are also scheduled to authorize an agreement with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services for the state’s Next Generation 9-1-1 system, according to the agenda.
The commissioners’ regular session is set for Tuesday. The agenda is subject to change, according to the county.
