PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert early Sunday warning residents along Salt Creek Drive and the surrounding area to be ready to evacuate because of heavy rainfall, with those living along the Salt Creek waterway also told to stay alert.
The alert, issued at 2:55 a.m., was classified as a moderate-severity, immediate-urgency notice, meaning conditions posed a possible threat to life or property and residents should take action right away, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Due to significant rain fall amounts, be prepared to evacuate if needed,” the sheriff’s office said in the alert. “Those along the Salt Creek water way be advised as well. We will keep you updated as the situation changes.”
The warning came the same night the Pickaway County Engineer’s Office closed Hayesville Road between Tarlton-Adelphi Road and State Route 56 because of high water, as heavy rain moved through the county.
