SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents after a woman who inspects properties for mortgage lenders reported being threatened while doing her job in the county.
Rosanna May Russ, a property and mortgage field inspector, contacted the sheriff’s office to report the threats, according to the agency. The sheriff’s office did not say when or where the threats occurred.
Russ’s job requires her to visit homes undergoing routine inspection, typically when a mortgage loan has fallen behind on payments or been sold or transferred to a new lender, the sheriff’s office said. Her presence at a property is a standard part of the mortgage servicing process and does not indicate any wrongdoing by the homeowner, according to the agency.
To help residents recognize Russ and avoid confusion or confrontation, the sheriff’s office released descriptions of three vehicles she may be seen driving: a white Toyota Tundra bearing Ohio registration KYA4673, a black Ford Mustang bearing Ohio registration R05ANNA and a red Chevrolet Cruze bearing Ohio registration MOMCRUZ.
Residents who have questions about someone conducting business at or near their property are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 740-354-7566 rather than confront the person, the agency said.
The sheriff’s office said it appreciates the public’s cooperation in keeping both residents and workers safe.
