PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The Portsmouth City School District will close Portsmouth Junior/High School to the public Sept. 28 while several local public safety agencies conduct an annual training exercise there, according to a joint announcement posted by the Portsmouth Police Department.
The training will be held in coordination with the Portsmouth Police Department, the Portsmouth Fire Department, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and Scioto County Emergency Management, the announcement said.
Roadways around the school at 1225 Gallia St. will remain open throughout the day, according to the announcement. The junior high and senior high share the same building along Gallia Street and are home to the Portsmouth Trojans, who compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The exercise will not affect the Sectional Tennis Tournament scheduled for that day at the Steven Hunter Memorial Courts, the agencies said.
