CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville City Auditor’s Office has received the Ohio Auditor of State Award for fiscal year 2025, recognizing the office for filing a clean financial audit with no findings, city officials announced this week.
The award is given to local governments that file their annual financial reports with the Ohio Auditor of State’s office by the statutory deadline, without seeking an extension, using generally accepted accounting principles. Recipients’ audits must also come back free of findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies or questioned costs, according to the Auditor of State’s office.

City Auditor Mark C. Bidwell said in a statement that the recognition reflects the work of employees throughout city government.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive this award on behalf of all the employees of the City of Circleville,” Bidwell said. “My responsibility is to ensure that the financial operations of the city comply with the Ohio Revised Code and that the information we provide is accurate, transparent, and complete.”
Bidwell said the accomplishment would not have been possible without city staff who understand “the importance of fiscal responsibility and the need to be good stewards of every taxpayer dollar entrusted to us.”
“Since my first day in office, my primary goal has been to put the citizens of Circleville first in every decision we make,” Bidwell said. “I hope this award serves as a reflection of that commitment and of our collective efforts to provide responsible, effective, and accountable service to our community.”
Bidwell has served as Circleville’s city auditor since January 2021. The auditor’s office, based at 121 S. Court St., oversees the city’s financial reporting, appropriations and fund management, and includes Deputy Auditor Desirae Logsdon along with payroll and accounting staff.
The award was presented on behalf of Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber by Cameron Lowery, a representative of Faber’s office, the city said.
