MOUNT STERLING, Ohio — Tri-County Joint Fire District Chief Dave Taylor is retiring at the end of the year after 44 years of service, the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency announced in a Facebook post.
“After 44 years of dedicated service, Chief Dave Taylor will be hanging up his gear at the end of the year,” the agency said in its post. “Congratulations, Chief Taylor, on an incredible career and a lifetime of service to your community. Your dedication, leadership, and commitment to keeping others safe have made a lasting impact.”
Tri-County Joint Fire District, based in Mount Sterling, serves communities across Fayette, Madison and Pickaway counties. The department’s mission, according to its website, is to “protect life, property, and enhance the quality of life” in the areas it covers.
The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency coordinates law enforcement, fire and rescue, EMS, public health and hospital resources across the county for disaster preparedness, response, recovery and hazard mitigation. The agency’s tribute to Taylor was also signed by 1-800-BOARDUP, a disaster restoration company that regularly partners with local fire and EMS agencies to recognize retiring first responders.
“Thank you for 44 years of service. Job well done, Chief!” the post said, adding a wish for “a happy and well-deserved retirement.”
No successor has been announced.
